The cognac color features buffalo leather with \u003cbr\u003ea thickness of approximately 1.4\/1.8 mm, which is boiled with oil after vegetable tanning and then hand-polished \u003cbr\u003eon the surface with hard wax to create a two-tone effect. This process makes every item unique. \u003cbr\u003eThe hides are sustainably tanned with plant extracts. We enhance this effect of natural beauty by hand-polishing our leathers only with hard wax, making every bag a unique one-of-a-kind piece. Only a few parts of a hide are suitable for processing as full-grain leather, which is why only about every 60th hide meets our quality standards. \u003cbr\u003eFull-grain buffalo leather is a particularly robust material that develops a beautiful patina over the years and, with proper care, will last for decades. All original Alpenleder products are manufactured in our own facilities by trained bag makers. The result is an indestructible product of the highest quality, whose raw materials are free of chromium and heavy metals! All products meet the EU's REACH requirements. Exclusively vegetable-tanned full-grain leather is used for all products, meaning every item is crafted from an entire hide.
