Since 1993, ideas for leather goods have been created near the Allgäu Alps, combining traditional craftsmanship with the demands of modern everyday life. Bags and accessories that don't need to follow every trend – because good design still works tomorrow.
Our roots are in the Alps
The Alps stand for durability, authenticity, and a certain pragmatism: what you own should function. And if something is good, it should be allowed to stay for a long time.
This attitude continues to shape Alpenleder today.
Our designs are created in Germany and combine classic shapes with thoughtful features for work, travel, and leisure.
The result is not accessories for one season, but companions for everyday life.
Leather with substance
At the center is a material that fits this philosophy perfectly: genuine leather.
For our leather goods, we rely on vegetable-tanned full-grain leather. The naturally grown structure of the leather is allowed to remain visible and palpable .
That is exactly where its appeal lies for us.
Because leather does not have to be perfectly uniform. Differences in structure and surface give each piece its own character.
And this character continues to evolve.
Made for modern everyday life
For us, tradition does not mean standing still.
Today, a bag must hold a laptop, smartphone, documents, and personal items as naturally as it must function on a train, on a bicycle, in the office, or on a business trip.
That is why many of our designs combine a classic leather look with modern functionality.
For example, a briefcase can be turned into a backpack in just a few movements. Business bags offer space for a laptop and documents. Travel bags accompany their owner from the weekend to a business trip.
The form remains timeless. The function is made for today.
Individuality instead of mass production
We do not believe that every object must look completely identical.
Leather is alive.
It gets marks. Its surface changes. It develops a patina over time.
This creates something that is hard to find in industrial mass-produced goods: personality.
After a few years, an Alpenleder bag is therefore no longer just the same bag that was once bought.

Responsibility is part of it for us
For us, quality does not end with the material.
Our production partners work according to defined social standards; the relevant partners are certified according to the international standard Social Accountability SA8000. Our products also meet the applicable REACH regulations of the European Union.
Because a product intended to last for many years should also be created with a responsible view toward its manufacture.
